MAN SCARS
The Little Guy was readying for his bath tonight. I took off all but his diaper. He stood on the bed while I checked the water temperature.
I came back in the bedroom and said, “I’m gonna get you!” He sprinted toward the back of the bed and dove head first into the pillow. He missed by about three inches and the area just above his left eye hit an edge of the headboard square.
Blood immediately gushed. It flowed down his cheek and covered his chest. I laid him down on the bathroom floor to apply soft pressure to the cut. I called Ashley and said, “Kessler has a deep cut above his eye that needs stitches.”
“What?! Okay. Take him to the ED right now. I’ll meet you there.”
“Brenner’s?”
“Yes.”
My mind whirled through all the things we may want to have at the hospital that I could quickly grab. I grabbed them, ran out the door, quickly drove to the hospital and through all its mazery, and pulled into the valet area.
At this point Kessler was acting TOTALLY fine. He was talking, smiling and waving. We checked in, and sat down once Mommy got there.
He was in a great mood except he didn’t like his hospital bracelet. He was more annoyed by a little bracelet than the filleted flesh above his left eye.
He stayed awake and hung out until around 11:30pm. Ashley and I then held him down while the docs shot some lidocaine in him and sutured him up.
As soon as they finished, he fell fast asleep in his mommy’s arms.
He’s getting an early start on his Man Scars.
